Practice.

Perform.

Repeat.

Practice. Perform. Repeat.

Say goodbye to performance nerves.

Introducing the concept performers are looking for—to improve their craft and ease their performance nerves and stage presence by doing what performers know best: practice. Based on performance psychology.

“Everything takes mindful practice. Maybe you’re a training musician working towards auditioning. Maybe you’re a speech and debate fanatic. Or maybe there’s a future TedX speaker in the room. Whatever it is, performance nerves shouldn’t stand in your way.”

A glimpse into why E-Stage was born:

It all started with…

Founded by a training violinist who has a half-emptied powder bottle to cure the inevitable sweaty palms, has eaten countless bananas, has read through articles upon articles on performance practice, and somehow manages to strike the last chord without a shaky bow. This organization was created in hopes of alleviating performance nerves with the one thing we musicians know best: practice.

By a musician, for performers.

Many performers have the practicing down pat. Even still, on performance day, we can never seem to let go of (at least one of the following):

1. pre-performance rituals in general

2. devouring 2x the bananas we normally eat

3. praying to the higher powers to NOT mess up on (insert here)

On average, committed artists carve out 4-5 hours of grueling, and often patience-testing, practice into their day. So much so that one loses focus on the end goal of why they did so in the first place: to replicate that hard work in a concert hall, stage, or even in those nostalgic (and, at times, PTSD) audition rooms.

E-Stage aims to bridge this gap for performers—from harpists to serious stand-up comedians (as ironic as it sounds), we offer free opportunities to:

Perform in front of a live audience; learn more on how to practice performing from students and professionals themselves; and gain both practice tips and access to masterclasses from professionals.

We give nods to any level of performers (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) as there is no stop to growth. We believe one should be accustomed to the stage before having high standards for themselves when performing. What better way to work on this than by practicing it? Our main offering includes completely free-of-cost 2-3 virtual recitals per week, in which musicians can sign up for one to two slots per recital. Each slot will consist of 5 minutes of any piece(s) that the player wishes to perform in front of an audience. Along with these recitals, we’ll provide you access to articles on performing and practicing, and opportunities to sign up for masterclasses.

The numbers speak for themselves.

Let's get some facts straightened out before we dive in as to why E-Stage was born. In 2015, the International Conference of Symphony and Opera Musicians (ICSOM) conducted a Musician’s Health Survey of 447 musicians.

  • Of the musicians surveyed, 98% of the musicians experienced performance anxiety "at one time or another" in their careers.

  • In response to the query, "If you experience performance anxiety, do you believe it negatively affects your performance quality? " 60.6% of respondents claimed, "yes."

  • When asked which alternative methods are used to address performance anxiety, "Experience" was the method vouched for by most respondents at 87% and found to be most effective.

  • At E-Stage, helping performers, artists, and musicians combat performance anxiety is our mission. There urgent need for action in music medicine is essential, and E-Stage aims to provide its 100%.

At E-Stage, we aren’t looking for professionals, we’re looking for dedicated performers. Put in the proper work, and you will get results.

It all begins with the willingness to take the time out of your day to perfect your art. Maybe you want to turn what started as a hobby into something more. Maybe your goal’s always been to host a talk show or eventually be a full-time artist. Or maybe you want to pursue the sciences but still teach music on the side. Whatever it is, remember this: there is always room to grow as a performer. As my teacher said best, “The only way to master your craft is to continue improving, constantly.”
